Project 365 - Day Forty-Nine

After the flooding on the Pine River subsided (the river system that is around my area) I went for a walk with a friend to witness the ferocity of what was. On this wander we saw debris so high in the trees it seemed impossible. Where I was standing to take this photo was meters underwater and the river is still more swollen than usual.

On the 12th of January the Brisbane River continues to rise slowly overtaking the Brisbane business center and to the south whole suburbs are submerged. Meanwhile many, many townships in Queensland are left in complete and utter disrepair with the death toll slowly rising. Evacuation centers are being set up and are beginning to fill. Many hearts are heavy with despair but are striving to find resilience. So many who have lost so much.
