</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">That's right I'm back in Brisbane after my two amazing weeks away in Mougulu PNG. Wow what an experience - but that will wait for another (few!) posts.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Thanks for accepting my two weeks of complete inactivity (or radio silence as I have taken to calling it) on the Internet. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> In the meantime I'm slowly starting to tackle the over 100GB of RAW photo files I took while I was away. Honestly I have barely started to scratch the surface but I couldn't resist sharing one... Just one... One that's defiantly going to get a place on my wall on a nice big canvas. A definite favorite for sure!</span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">There will be many, many more posts to come full of plenty of photos and my attempts to put the whole glorious experience into words. But just for now I leave you with this:</span><br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">As I gulped down the first of my anti-malarial tablets this morning it all became 10 times more real and I figured now was the time to share the news I've been dying to tell.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e_cMsy-nQ_w/UI8lsl8a8SI/AAAAAAAACRw/wpCpxRcoBKw/s1600/maleria.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e_cMsy-nQ_w/UI8lsl8a8SI/AAAAAAAACRw/wpCpxRcoBKw/s400/maleria.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Do you remember in my post about <a href="http://creativelycreated.blogspot.com.au/2012/09/george-crystal.html" target="_blank">George and Crystal</a> how I shared about my desire to go back to Papua New Guinea one day? Back to a place that holds a special place in my memories. No. Back to a place that holds a special place in my heart. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Well as it turns out I'm heading back. Much sooner than I ever would have anticipated. In fact I leave this Thursday! That's right in two short days *insert excited squeal here* I'll be heading back to the international airport to jump on a plane bound for PNG.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9hXGAmrAwBY/UI8qAfEeORI/AAAAAAAACTo/khf85WMGGwE/s1600/PNG+Map_118230550922074.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9hXGAmrAwBY/UI8qAfEeORI/AAAAAAAACTo/khf85WMGGwE/s400/PNG+Map_118230550922074.png" width="400" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">More specifically I'll be heading to Mougulu in the Western Province. This is where my grandparents have worked and lived (off and on) for... well... as long as I've known them - plus a whole lot longer. They have built an airstrip, a school, a hospital, translated the Bible into the native language and a whole lot more. To think about everything they have accomplished is mind boggling to say the least. Pretty amazing people hey? </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lljA-pj0xYI/UI8sgPV8aqI/AAAAAAAACUk/4Hi3sHt2Okw/s1600/16552870.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="243" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lljA-pj0xYI/UI8sgPV8aqI/AAAAAAAACUk/4Hi3sHt2Okw/s400/16552870.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> <a href="http://www.panoramio.com/photo/16552870" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: xx-small;">Source</span></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">For me Mougulu is... the words escape me currently. Hopefully I'll find them while I'm away so I can accurately convey all that it was, all that it is to me. Suffice to say it's a place of memories (both good and not so great) and a place of much significance and history - not only for me but for a lot of people.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">This all has really only come together since I've been back from New Zealand and to be honest my brain has taken a little bit to catch up. I keep walking around (and now packing my bag) in a bit of an excited daze with my brain on a constant loop of "I'm going to PNG. I'm going to PNG! I'M GOING TO PNG!!!!" To say my excitement level is sky-high is a complete understatement.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I'm so excited about everything about this trip not the least of which is the amazing photographic opportunities. My camera and my favorite lenses will be making the trip with me for sure. As if there was ever a question. There is such phenomenal beauty up there I simply cannot wait to capture as much of it as I can. So you can bet when I get back there will be a few posts about my time away. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I'm so incredibly thankful for the opportunity to go back to such an important place. Again words fail me when I try to express how grateful I am. Just to say my excitement levels are matched only by the level of my appreciation for the chance to go back.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">So for two weeks starting this Thursday my <a href="https://twitter.com/TaflineWrites" target="_blank">Twitter</a> shall fall silent, my <a href="http://instagram.com/p/RTv5j1H3RE/" target="_blank">Instagram</a> will not be updated, my emails will go unanswered and <a href="https://www.facebook.com/TaflineHoeyPhotography" target="_blank">Facebook</a> will never know what's on my mind. As a pretty avid social media sharer it will certainly be strange to go silent for two weeks but the experience will be more than worth it. So I hope you can bare with me and stick with me through the two weeks radio silence... I look forward to telling you all about it when I return.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Until my next post I hope this finds you safe and happy. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">So... Words and pictures, right? That's the goal. Let's see how it goes...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">In case you didn't know I'm quite the music fan. My little music mix CD (yes CD... you do remember those?) keeps me company whenever I hop in my car and my mobile phone handily doubles as my personal music player. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">And while I like and appreciate a wide variety of music (though some would disagree) I always seem to circle back to... well I'm not quite sure what to call it really. Soulful, acoustic, singer/songwriter, kinda mellow (at times), meaningful, one-person-with-an-acoustic-guitar kinda vibe genre? Music shouldn't be in a box anyway. But that's what I listen to the most.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Anyway last Thursday I headed to the <a href="http://www.iceworks.com.au/dowse" target="_blank">Dowse Bar</a> to surround myself with the incredible talents of <a href="http://stularsen.com/" target="_blank">Mr Stu Larsen</a>, <a href="http://www.lukethompsonmusic.com/" target="_blank">Mr Luke Thompson</a> and <a href="http://www.chrissimmonsmusic.com/" target="_blank">Mr Chris Simmons</a>. I first heard Stu Larsen at a <a href="http://passengermusic.com/" target="_blank">Passenger</a> gig a long while back (if you haven't heard of Passenger then you are truly missing out!) And when I found out Stu was doing a headliner at the Passenger gig earlier this year I <i>knew</i> that was something I couldn't pass up. I am ever so glad that I went! Plus I got to hear to new-to-me artists who will be featuring on my playlist for sure.</span></div>
<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">My camera accompanied me (of course... really would you expect nothing less?) on this lovely evening out. So I thought I'd share some of my pics from the night... Do yourself a favor - as you're looking at these pics press play on the little video below to listen to Luke Thompson's song 'Water' to get the full effect: </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </span></div>

<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/2RI4npfNRbg?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L3tz1_9_1DA/UI1ZT2EDQvI/AAAAAAAACPs/G2X8Sg8KvYo/s1600/forblog2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L3tz1_9_1DA/UI1ZT2EDQvI/AAAAAAAACPs/G2X8Sg8KvYo/s400/forblog2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tEI27_vP8_Y/UI1ZexUcPeI/AAAAAAAACP8/rEZQo7_VbeQ/s1600/forblog4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tEI27_vP8_Y/UI1ZexUcPeI/AAAAAAAACP8/rEZQo7_VbeQ/s400/forblog4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I was sorely tempted to make all the photos black and white. Who knows I may yet do just that. There's something about black and white photography. It's like it just strips away the detractions so you can really focus on the heart of the image... Or at least that's what I think.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3KIkb7zziUE/UI1ZPVladHI/AAAAAAAACPk/oQy78Z5HJDs/s1600/forblog1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3KIkb7zziUE/UI1ZPVladHI/AAAAAAAACPk/oQy78Z5HJDs/s400/forblog1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-znMOqFOGIHg/UI1ZZRUOXtI/AAAAAAAACP0/Obhxt1YNss0/s1600/forblog3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-znMOqFOGIHg/UI1ZZRUOXtI/AAAAAAAACP0/Obhxt1YNss0/s400/forblog3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I am falling more and more in love with live music photography. I've had the chance to take my camera along to a few gigs so far this year and there's just something about this type of photography that makes my heart...sing (pun intended). So if you're a musician looking to get some photos done don't been shy about giving me a call!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">So that was my Thursday night... Filled with stunning and soulful music and a little bit of photography thrown in for good measure. Kinda perfect if you ask me. I can't wait to share my next post which is some news I've been <i>dying</i> to share so stay tuned! </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Words And Pictures
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I miss words… </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kpYDoyvwcHw/UIJvcSgIHpI/AAAAAAAACPU/Z0pjZkicjUY/s1600/Portfolio-2011-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kpYDoyvwcHw/UIJvcSgIHpI/AAAAAAAACPU/Z0pjZkicjUY/s320/Portfolio-2011-4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">There was a time not too long ago when I used to write every day. I devoured books like they were about to disappear. I wrote pages and pages of poetry and short stories… A novel or two are lurking on one of my many hard drives somewhere. An Ernest Hemmingway, Charlotte Bronte or Edgar Allen Poe I most certainly am not. But I loved it (still do) and worked hard to foster a certain level of eloquent expression.
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">As I got more and more into photography it all shifted slightly. Instead of a regular reading of Pride and Prejudice I started reading manuals, technical analysis, pages and pages of spec sheets and blog after blog after blog (after blog!) of everything photography related. Don’t misunderstand. I do not regret this at all. Not one bit. Not in the slightest. It allowed me to grow and develop in my chosen career (and what I believe is my calling). I truly believe giving myself this time to totally immerse myself in all things photography has been completely invaluable.
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Long time readers of this little ol’ blog would have no doubt noticed the shift. Way back when I started blogging I wrote phenomenally long (entirely too long now that I read them back) posts with maybe one or two pictures that I felt emphasised my point. I shared poetry (admittedly the majority of it was cringe worthy) that seemed to pour out onto the electronic page. Fast-forward four years (I can’t believe I’ve had this little space of the internet for four years!) to my post about my recent adventure in New Zealand where my written highlights section was lack-lustre at best.
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">So it’s apparent that it’s high time to find a bit of balance. Words and pictures. Pictures and words. The two can co-exist and complement each other quite nicely. I have found and am developing my visual voice and it’s time to circle back and (re)discover and deepen my writing style. Prose and photography coming together to help me tell whatever tale I wish. I shan’t be sacrificing one for the other. But rather fostering the growth of both my passions simultaneously. I hope that this blog will contain prose and photography intertwining seamlessly together to tell my stories.
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Why am I sharing this on such a public forum? I honestly don't know. Maybe to keep myself accountable? Maybe to let you my lovely readers know that the structure and content of my posts may (hopefully) change a little? Maybe just as a little reminder to myself that my 'writer' side is important as well as my 'photographer' side. In any event that's what I've been thinking about lately.
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">
</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Life is all about balance and sometimes you just need to recalibrate things a bit (or at least that's what I find). I'm excited to start (really) writing again and figuring out how to work it in with my photography. Luckily there are a plethora of photography blogs out there who write exceptionally well as well as taking phenomenal photos.

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Like I said in my last post (all the way back on September the 21st - where does the time go?) I recently headed off to New Zealand for a week's holiday...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">And, my oh my, what a beautiful country! It felt like there was a picture-perfect-postcard moment every 5 minutes. My camera's defiantly got a work out on that little trip that's for sure. Spending a week traveling around the North Island with my marvelous mum was all kinds of fantastic! She's one of the best traveling buddies this girl could ask for.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I was planning to write up a day-by-day posts but then I thought it would be better to condense it down to my favorite-favorite images with a little highlights write up. So here goes:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O2a3kw0K8eQ/UHZVFEiWq_I/AAAAAAAACNE/QHApzjXqv0A/s1600/nzblog3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O2a3kw0K8eQ/UHZVFEiWq_I/AAAAAAAACNE/QHApzjXqv0A/s400/nzblog3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Highlights:- mum and I spending the majority of the week laughing (sometimes til tears ran down my face), stunning scenery, learning a bit about Maori culture, the Redwood forest, geysers and tulips at Rotorua, seeing a real live Kiwi (the bird... but I did meet heaps of Kiwi people too!), my mispronunciation of almost every single town (it was decided that I should probably never share any of these with a New Zealander), winding roads, the themed gardens in Hamilton, going up Sky Tower in Auckland while mum waited safely on the ground - not such a fan of heights is my mum, taking photos of the majestic wonder of everything that is New Zealand and last but certainly not least spending some quality time with my mum. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Most of the places we stayed at had little to no internet connection which was a little bit of a bummer as I had planned on sharing more as I traveled along on my Twitter and Instagram feeds. But that's okay... Note to everyone heading overseas though - check that your mobile phone doesn't automatically connect to mobile data when Wi-Fi isn't in range. Just got my phone bill and OUCH!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">All in all it was a magnificent week away and New Zealand is most defiantly on my 'must visit again sometime soon' list. I don't think I'd ever get bored of the place! My two instant cameras made the trip with me and once I can figure out how to get a decent quality scan I'll be sure to share a few of my instant pics of NZ. There are some really lovely ones in the collection. So keep an eye out for that!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Thanks for reading about my break away. I'd love to know what your favorite picture of the bunch is! Until next time my lovely readers... Take care</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Hello lovely readers!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">If you've been following this blog for a while now (or if you've been following me on any other form of social media for that matter) you may be aware that I've been working on setting up a website for my photography business. My what an adventure that was! I'd be working on something for days, get it to a place where I thought I was ready to launch then the next minute I was unhappy with it and totally scrapped it.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Well, I decided it was time to finally take the plunge and launch <a href="http://taflinehoeyphotography.com.au/">taflinehoeyphotography.com.au</a>!</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="223" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ChNjC2hkroY/UFvNkW1N4GI/AAAAAAAACMI/rOaPYJB00Oo/s400/website.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">It's still a little bit of a work in progress. But it's there... My little proclamation that I'm a professional photographer. I'd love it if you could click the link, take a look and tell me what you think! If you have any suggestions I'd appreciate the feedback.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--DRm9vUD8Yk/UFvEcRHPoNI/AAAAAAAACLw/2pv3J4OtgDA/s1600/logodesignmodelrelease.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="311" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--DRm9vUD8Yk/UFvEcRHPoNI/AAAAAAAACLw/2pv3J4OtgDA/s400/logodesignmodelrelease.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">If you are a facebook user I would be very much obliged it if you could take a second to 'Like' the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/TaflineHoeyPhotography" target="_blank">Tafline Hoey Photography fan page</a>! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><br /></span>
<br />

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">In other news I'm off the New Zealand tomorrow for a week... Yes okay not exactly the best timing to launch my business website then go overseas the next day. But be on the lookout on the <a href="http://taflinehoeyphotography.com.au/" target="_blank">website</a>, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/TaflineHoeyPhotography" target="_blank">facebook fan page</a> and this blog for pictures of the stunning landscapes of New Zealand in the up-coming weeks! I'm going to try and post a bit while I'm away but I'm not sure what kind of Internet coverage I'll have access to over there so if I go quiet for a week now you know why. I hope to <a href="https://twitter.com/TaflineWrites" target="_blank">tweet</a> and <a href="http://followgram.me/taflineh" target="_blank">Instagram</a> where possible as a little on-going journal of my trip so <a href="https://twitter.com/TaflineWrites" target="_blank">follow along</a> if you'd like to see what I'm up to.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">In the meantime I hope you are all having an amazing day and are looking forward to a fantastic week ahead... I know I am!</span><br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Let me tell you the story...<br /><br />I have a wonderful cousin who lives in Sydney and shares my passion for photography. She has been slowly but surely building up her own photography business - <a href="http://www.samarajoyphotography.com/" target="_blank">Samara Joy Photography</a>. A while ago she shared her joy at the opportunity to photograph her friend's wedding and build her portfolio.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iJyW_qYE56U/UFtUlS9dudI/AAAAAAAACLY/IXE-ZaKSu94/s1600/for+blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I, of course, delighted in the news and offered (half jokingly) to fly to Sydney and act as her assistant/second shooter ... As it turned out the wedding was taking place in Brisbane and my cousin and the bride were happy to have me come along as second shooter! Truly amazing! It was a joy to photograph the delightful couple's special day with Samara. <a href="http://www.samarajoyphotography.com/2012/09/george-crystal.html" target="_blank">Click here to see her take on the wedding day</a>. (While you're there take a look at the rest of her blog and subscribe)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /><span style="color: white;"> ghhhhhhh</span></span><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t-KtVdlHyQY/UFtT3qYIZ4I/AAAAAAAACKU/1AriKG2Z13s/s1600/GandCWedding-18.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t-KtVdlHyQY/UFtT3qYIZ4I/AAAAAAAACKU/1AriKG2Z13s/s640/GandCWedding-18.jpg" width="424" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">To capture the absolute beauty of two people making a lifelong commitment to one another is an honor. Crystal and George began a journey that day and I was privileged to witness it. Click on the images if you would like to view them larger.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I'm still working through my images from the day but I thought I'd share a few of my favorites so far. There was laughter. There were pictures. There was the occasional tear. There were precious little moments. There were stories shared. There was love... And there was a couple starting their new lives together as husband and wife. That is pure beauty...<br /><br /><span style="color: white;"> </span></span><span style="color: white;">dxddffffffffff</span><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ORUhbXgGutc/UFtUIA6G0iI/AAAAAAAACKs/h58_0CR1qaM/s1600/for+blog+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ORUhbXgGutc/UFtUIA6G0iI/AAAAAAAACKs/h58_0CR1qaM/s400/for+blog+4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I'd like to share another quick story if I may. As you may notice the groom is a Papua New Guinean. I cannot recall if I've shared before of my connection to the country. From living there when I was little to going back for (at times heartbreaking) visits - the place holds a special place in my heart. It is undoubtedly part of my history... And there are times I yearn to go back for a visit... At this wedding I got a taste of Papua New Guinea and my heart was full. Thank you George and Crystal for allowing me to capture your special day and for giving me a sweet little taste of PNG.</span></div>

<br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">There are many more images to go through and a lot more exciting news to share... But that shall wait for another post. In the meantime I say thank you to George and Crystal for entrusting your special day to <a href="http://www.samarajoyphotography.com/" target="_blank">Samara</a> and I... A while ago I decided to start a new photographic series called 'Inspired By Song'. Because I'm such a visual person whenever I listen to music I always 'see' pictures to accompany the music. I figured it was about time that I start making these imaginary photos into a reality.</div>
<br />
I shot the first set of the series yesterday... Inspired by 'Let Her Go' by <a href="http://passengermusic.com/" target="_blank">Passenger</a>. If you haven't heard of Passenger you are seriously missing out! Click through and listen. Then do yourself a favor and buy all of his albums... and oh my is he magnificent live! I've had the privilege to go along to a few of his gigs in recent years and he is one of my favorites for sure.<br />
<br />
Here's the official video clip for 'Let Her Go':<br />

<br />
A huge thank you to Miss R for being my amazing model! She got my vision
for the shoot the minute I started explaining it and was on-board with
it all. Even after mosquitoes started eating her alive she happily was traipsing through the forest when I asked. If that's not dedication I don't know what is! Thanks so much Miss R!! I can't wait to work with you again. <br />

A while ago a friend and I headed out to take a few photos of the sun fading from the sky and stare in wonderment at the stars above. We managed to find a spot not too far from my place that seemed like the perfect location with very little light pollution. A spot I'll be coming back to I'm sure. Here are my three favorite photos from our little adventure. </div>

Standing out there in the cold beholding the beauty of the stars shining bright and true I couldn't help but think of Ray Bradbury's thoughts in <i>Fahrenheit 451</i>:</div>

<span class="grand">I've got to say after sitting in that spot for a few hours gazing at the stars above I felt as if I managed to stuff my eyes with the wonder of the world. It's 3:45 am and smoke hangs heavy in the air. Sleep does not come easy to this restless mind of mine...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So now seems as good a time as any to actually type out a post I've been writing in my head for quite a while now. You know the type that you write and re-write over and over in your mind til one day you actually sit down at your keyboard and punch it out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yep it's one of <i>those</i> posts... So settle in for a manifesto of sorts if you will. Hope to see you on the other side.</div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
About a week ago I got up and dressed before the sunrise to capture the beauty of a brand new day. It seemed like the perfect day to re-visit a spot that I'd been to roughly a year before. Thankfully I got there a bit before the sun rose which gave me the chance to scout the location a little bit more than the last time and fit in a few sneaky l-o-n-g exposure shots before the sun started its climb to start off a new day.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wceCc_eQ4_E/UCc7v4yZyAI/AAAAAAAACHU/ipnyOkdKOTY/s1600/Blogger-3917.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wceCc_eQ4_E/UCc7v4yZyAI/AAAAAAAACHU/ipnyOkdKOTY/s320/Blogger-3917.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course this was the perfect opportunity to break out my ultra wide lens (gotta love that 8-16mm focal length) and experiment with perspective and distortion. I just loved this little spot underneath the two towering bridges above. While I was there I couldn't help but think that it would make a magnificent backdrop to some stellar portraits. I'm slowly gathering an arsenal of perfect portrait backdrops... So if you're in the area and feel like some photos be sure to contact me. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KlTXPsZ8YBg/UCc78dCwfKI/AAAAAAAACHc/JTv7gMdhvfM/s1600/Blogger-3921.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="189" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KlTXPsZ8YBg/UCc78dCwfKI/AAAAAAAACHc/JTv7gMdhvfM/s320/Blogger-3921.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As can happen when I'm off taking landscape photos on my own I got completely wrapped up in the experience - completely enthralled in my long exposure shots underneath the bridge. So much so that the next thing I knew colour was starting the creep into the sky and I wasn't in position. Luckily I am now able to pack down my gear in record time and I (almost) ran to the best closest spot to capture the sunrise. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I know I say it every single time but there's something kind of breathtaking about watching the sunrise. Seeing a band new day full of infinite possibilities take hold is something everyone should witness at least once in their lives. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I decided to add a black and white treatment to one of my under the bridges digital shots. I have a bit of an infatuation with black and white photography. Especially film black and white photography - the grain, the texture, the varying hues of black and gray - simply bliss. Given all that you can understand why half my rolls of 35mm film are 'true black' rolls. I'm going to get a bunch of my rolls of film developed soon and I'll be sure to share once I get my hands on them.<br />
<br />
There should be a lot more coming up on this little blog super soon so keep your eyes peeled. In the meantime I hope you're having a wonderful week!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">
So after over 3 months away (thanks to the broken ankle!) last week it was time to head back to class and as one of my friends puts it 'get my learn on'. The first week back was pretty brutal - not in terms of workload. In fact we didn't undertake that much work. But having had 3 months off and dealing with two feet still trying to get back to 'normal' it was still intense...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">
But yesterday we got to start something that I've been looking forward to since enrolling in the class - studio work!! Working with studio strobes is so fantastic. When I first started taking photography seriously I never thought I'd be interested in studio lighting. I saw myself more as a 'natural light photographer' and don't get me wrong I still love working with natural light. But since I started working as a photographer's assistant for a downright amazing Brisbane photographer I quickly came to realize the beauty and versatility of studio lights. While working for the phenomenally talented <a href="http://www.f3foto.com.au/index.php" target="_blank">Trine Barfod-Jensen</a> I have/am learning so much about all aspects of photography. It's so fantastic to work for someone so talented who is also willing to answer my unending amount of questions. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">
Anyway we got into the studio with one strobe and were told to photograph each other using different lighting techniques. To make things a bit more interesting we brought in some clothes and different props. The wonderful <a href="http://rebekahthomsonphotography.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Miss Rebekah Thomson</a> (seriously click the link she has some amazing photos on there) agreed to be my model <i>and</i> let me put angel wings on her! Thanks for being a fantastic model Bek! I thought I'd share my favourite shot of the set:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wlaAzIbTj-Y/UATGyBvoFJI/AAAAAAAACG8/a30OA-kAxxQ/s1600/forblog-3567.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wlaAzIbTj-Y/UATGyBvoFJI/AAAAAAAACG8/a30OA-kAxxQ/s400/forblog-3567.jpg" width="265" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">
I decided to photograph her on the black background (we had access to either black or white) to make the white wings stand out a little more. While I have great photos of her side or (almost) front on I liked the over the shoulder shots the best. I also deliberately positioned the lights so there would be a bit of shadow in the wings to add a bit more texture and definition.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: left;">
So tell me... What do you think of the photo? I'd love to hear your opinion. And anyone who would like to be a model for me or have your picture taken by me just let me know. I hope to post again soon. But in the meantime I hope you have a wonderful week!</div>

How has everyone's week been? Are you all excited for the weekend like I am? I hope you have a great one!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So last night a friend and I went on a little adventure... well a slightly bigger adventure than planned but it was still pretty awesome. After taking the long way round and a couple of false starts we found the prefect spot to set up our cameras and tripods to try and capture some magic within the night. I thought it would be nice to share my three favourite pictures of the night.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you read this blog or follow me on <a href="https://twitter.com/taflinewrites" target="_blank">Twitter</a> or know me personally at all you would know that I am a dreamer... <i>BIG</i> time! Be they extremely vivid, detailed night dreams (or nightmares) or spending my time daydreaming my imagination just runs wild. If you ever catch me staring off into space chances are that I'm caught up in a dream. Anyway as the fog settled over our little spot I felt like I was living out one of my many daydreams. The road leading off into the darkness just adds to the idea of the unknown dream...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TnD3bcSViSQ/T_eQ70bhz6I/AAAAAAAACGg/YQLpfzaoUYw/s1600/forblog-3380.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TnD3bcSViSQ/T_eQ70bhz6I/AAAAAAAACGg/YQLpfzaoUYw/s400/forblog-3380.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What do you think of it? This one little spot we settled on was such a fantastic find. Full of wonderful little vignettes that allowed for quite a few different photos within the same spot... I think I'll head back there sometime soon. There was a fantastically beautiful gnarly, half-dead tree that I simply had to work into a few of my photographs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-N6PF0uqjD_c/T_eRVvT8R1I/AAAAAAAACGs/6EiNeiAAmvU/s1600/forblog-3385.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-N6PF0uqjD_c/T_eRVvT8R1I/AAAAAAAACGs/6EiNeiAAmvU/s400/forblog-3385.jpg" width="265" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This last photograph was kind of the reason why we headed off on this adventure. My friend had found some absolutely stunning star photographs on flickr (like <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ironrodart/7413443182" target="_blank">this one</a>) and we were keen to give it a go ourselves. Unfortunately mine didn't turn out quite so spectacularly but I'm still rather happy with it given that it was my first try.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TFbDXQwDDSU/T_eQoJivFuI/AAAAAAAACGY/PGfBAgD-fFg/s1600/forblog-3371.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TFbDXQwDDSU/T_eQoJivFuI/AAAAAAAACGY/PGfBAgD-fFg/s400/forblog-3371.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am completely keen to get out there and give this type of photography a go again. Once I manage to get the technique absolutely spot on I think I could get some stunning star photographs of my very own. I always love trying new techniques and adding things like this to my photography bag of tricks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope to post again soon. But in the meantime I'd love to hear what you think of these photographs. Thanks for stopping by my little part of the internet. I hope you have a fabulous week!</div>

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">My very dear friend Mrs T very recently (like yesterday morning!)
gave birth to a lovely little girl. So I thought now would be the
perfect time to share some of the pregnancy photos I captured recently.
Mrs T - you are amazing!!! I love you a million times a billion times
all the starts in the sky.</span></div>

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
Just a little over a week ago my dear friends allowed me the absolute
privilege of coming into their home to take a few photographs. And it
was amazing! It was beautiful to spend some quality time with two
much-loved, wonderful people and it was great to be behind the lens
again.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kxzkOzp9fo0/T-IiJhiwPLI/AAAAAAAACFk/jB2WaLlXI1M/s1600/tamsandmattlogo-2775.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kxzkOzp9fo0/T-IiJhiwPLI/AAAAAAAACFk/jB2WaLlXI1M/s320/tamsandmattlogo-2775.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;"> </span>
</div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">This little photoshoot took place 4 days after I had my plaster cast
removed. So I was quite literally still finding my feet. But it felt so
good, so right, so natural to be back behind the lens doing what I love.
Thank you guys again so very much for giving me the opportunity.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Quite honestly I'm still going through and editing the photos but I
just couldn't wait any longer to share some of my favourites from the
day. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-samECsK9OEM/T-IiWZSMHbI/AAAAAAAACFs/q4AmWzgXrig/s1600/tamsandmattlogo-2779.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-samECsK9OEM/T-IiWZSMHbI/AAAAAAAACFs/q4AmWzgXrig/s320/tamsandmattlogo-2779.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">These people are phenomenal and are going to be amazing parents. I
simply cannot wait to witness their family grow even more in strength,
character and love. It's going to be a wonderful thing to watch. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4RefddurpAk/T-IhB7swY1I/AAAAAAAACFM/8xe1UrIHdt8/s1600/tamsandmattlogo-2688.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4RefddurpAk/T-IhB7swY1I/AAAAAAAACFM/8xe1UrIHdt8/s320/tamsandmattlogo-2688.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">There's a vintage-y, classic vibe about their home. It's so beautiful
and has such a peace about it. I simply adore all the little touches.
There are these two amazing chairs in their home that I had to
photograph. For some reason this photo just seemed right to me. Maybe
it's because the little chair is a gift for the baby... For whatever the
reason I liked the visual of the chairs together in a photo.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Agt-3t3ERkY/T-IixLsNIzI/AAAAAAAACF0/YaqN0gQ7HKg/s1600/tamsandmattlogo-2836.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Agt-3t3ERkY/T-IixLsNIzI/AAAAAAAACF0/YaqN0gQ7HKg/s320/tamsandmattlogo-2836.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">So there it is... My first photoshoot post-break (or AB - after break
- as one of my friends suggested). Every time I get the honour of doing
something like this it serves to further cement the belief that this is
what I want to do with my life. I can't wait to get out there and
capture some more beautiful moments. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Rest assured that there will be more photographs to share. But in the meantime thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">So <i>before </i>I broke my ankle I was busily taking photos basically every day. Some for school and some just for me to re-connect with why I love photography so much in the first place. I thought it might be nice to share a few</span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> of my fa</span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">vourites from my little journeys. I've got to be honest though some of them I barely remember for they were so long ago... Anyway on with the pictures!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="212" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-v0r6y1h3GFY/T9rduddHFjI/AAAAAAAACEk/PDqGRJS80jE/s320/smattering-1285.jpg" width="320" /><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I've got to be honest there are others... Better ones in my opinion. So why not share? Well, I'm in the process of collating, building, and launching my photography business website and I kind of want to save a few of the best photos for it. Which, when I'm logical doesn't make that much sense but that's how I feel at the moment. If I take to long to get the website done though I'm sure that will change and the blog will be bombarded. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ULEO0EzC7fc/T9reZXWNTFI/AAAAAAAACFA/VMGbOfrjG3k/s1600/website-1985-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ULEO0EzC7fc/T9reZXWNTFI/AAAAAAAACFA/VMGbOfrjG3k/s320/website-1985-2.jpg" width="212" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
By the way dear Blogger, if you could make it easier to sit photos side by side instead of having a huge gap between them I'd be ever so grateful. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rsgwXmP7Aaw/T9rd204QXPI/AAAAAAAACEs/ZRjcr6jPwrM/s1600/smattering-2258.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rsgwXmP7Aaw/T9rd204QXPI/AAAAAAAACEs/ZRjcr6jPwrM/s320/smattering-2258.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Oh my feet... Pre break! Had I have know what manner of trouble you were about the cause me I probably wouldn't have been so inclined to take your picture. There are times when... Anyway...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hx9DuZ8F8mU/T9reOKOklII/AAAAAAAACE0/X3wSwB-S_Ec/s1600/smattering-2298.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hx9DuZ8F8mU/T9reOKOklII/AAAAAAAACE0/X3wSwB-S_Ec/s320/smattering-2298.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> I have discovered I had an addiction to anything old, rusty, retro or vintage. May I just say that it make eBay a very dangerous place to be. But that's besides the</span> point. I hope you enjoyed this little look at some of the things I was getting up to before I took a very unintentional break. I can't wait to share some of my more recent photos some time soon.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thank you so much for stopping by my little corner of the internet. Here's hoping I manage to update it sooner next time hey??! </div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">So a month and a half between posts isn't all that flash is it? I've had things to say but <i>actually</i> saying them seemed like a huge jump. </span></div>

If you follow me on <a href="https://twitter.com/#%21/TaflineWrites" target="_blank">Twitter</a>, Instagram (taflineh) or Facebook you would be well aware that roughly 7 weeks ago I broke my ankle and have been unable to walk at all until just recently. So you could say I've had nothing <i>but</i> time to write blog post. But whenever I started to write it all seemed forced or fake or going in directions that I didn't want them to. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm one of those people who if I'm not careful I get attacks of what I like to call 'stinking thinking'. Let me tell you when you have nothing but time on your hands 'stinking thinking' is nigh impossible to avoid. And really who wants to read (or write for that matter) a blog were a person is just moaning? So it seemed like a far more preferable option to keep silent. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But now it's time to pick myself up off the mat and get going again...</div>

But the Skyline Sure is Pretty<br />
I went to bed Friday night fully intending to sleep. I went through my usual nightly ritual (it's important to have good sleep hygiene), closed my eyes and waited for blissful sleep to envelop me... And I waited... And I waited... I tossed and turned and I waited. Eventually it was time to admit defeat and just get up. After reading through my Google Reader and researching about what bit of kit I'd like to buy next I was at a loss as to what to do. Watching home shopping commercials is never a good idea for me as I become convinced I desperately need a (insert product name here). I realised sunrise was only a few short hours away and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to break out my neutral density filters and see what I could capture. As it turned out however I am much happier with the photos I took <i>before</i> sunrise and I thought I'd share a few.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jriLVAuDYHY/T3fxDUJ2tVI/AAAAAAAACCc/kEwY5gdP1yk/s1600/forblog-0871.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="233" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jriLVAuDYHY/T3fxDUJ2tVI/AAAAAAAACCc/kEwY5gdP1yk/s400/forblog-0871.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I'd be willing to bet that most if not all photographers in Brisbane (be they enthusiasts or professionals) have been to the Kangaroo Point cliffs to take photos of the city skyline. Armed with this knowledge I took along a prop to add a little something different into the scene.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-csXGs7Vr5-s/T3fz4S3ibuI/AAAAAAAACC0/BOy-eVOVO5s/s1600/forblog-0883.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-csXGs7Vr5-s/T3fz4S3ibuI/AAAAAAAACC0/BOy-eVOVO5s/s400/forblog-0883.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

It was heaps of fun tossing a torch around to light up the foreground. Testing out different angles and directions to light the birdcage from to see what looked best. If you ask me it was the prefect way to spend a few hours while I was waiting to feel sleepy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Once the sun had fully risen I loaded myself up and walked the short distance back to the car to put most of my gear away. Side note: I only got in the way of three super keen, super fit jogger types on the way back to the car so I'd consider that a complete success.<br />
<br />
As I put away my tripods and bags I was stuck by the beauty of the morning. So I decided to go for a walk without any of my bags weighing me down. Armed only with my camera and a 50mm 1.8 lens I set off again to enjoy the morning and capture a few more photos along the way... But that's for another post.<br />

Over the past couple of weeks in one of my classes we have been discussing, learning about and practising rembrandt lighting. Rembrandt lighting is a fairly simply lighting set-up that uses one key light and usually a reflector. This lighting style lights up half of the face while placing the other half in shadow save for a triangle of light underneath the eye. Here's one of my first attempts at rembrandt lighting in the studio. Thanks to the awesome Miss M for being my model.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6-Us4nVB_b4/T3emmh_KT6I/AAAAAAAACB0/o-oJ9DoS1m8/s1600/mia-0771.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6-Us4nVB_b4/T3emmh_KT6I/AAAAAAAACB0/o-oJ9DoS1m8/s320/mia-0771.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
Rembrandt lighting is unsurprisingly named for the Dutch painter Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (how fantastic is his middle name??!!? Imagine trying to say that one to a voice automated system.) The painter often used this technique to give his subjects form, depth and definition. Here's a self-portrait he painted which demonstrates the lighting style perfectly:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MZlfB98yaHs/T3epvhu__II/AAAAAAAACCA/KcrZ2KtgM3Y/s1600/self-1629.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MZlfB98yaHs/T3epvhu__II/AAAAAAAACCA/KcrZ2KtgM3Y/s320/self-1629.jpg" width="290" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/rembrandt/self/">Source</a></div>
<br />
See that little triangle of light underneath his eye on the shadow side of his face? That's rembrandt lighting at its finest. Man oh man could that guy paint or what?!?<br />
<br />
While more difficult it is possible to implement this lighting style outdoors using the sun as your key light. You just need to get a little more creative when working with the sun. The lovely Miss T proved to be my best example of rembrandt lighting outdoors. Thanks Miss T for being my model for a while!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

As you can see while we are learning about photography from behind the camera we also spend a bit of time in front of the camera being models as well. If nothing else I suppose that it teaches you how to communicate exactly what you want/need from the model because you can see it from both sides.<br />
<br />
There's a whole lot more still to come but I want to know: do you like me sharing what I've learnt and photographed in class? What would you like to see on this blog? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. <br />
<br />
Until next time I hope your weekend has been restful!<br />

Did you ever do that while you were studying? It was all in the pursuit of practising photography skills. That it happened to be loads of fun was just a bonus!<br /><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IUXhepW7wKI/T3bDq08EfGI/AAAAAAAACA8/oMjkweG7P7o/s1600/splashes-0102.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 212px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IUXhepW7wKI/T3bDq08EfGI/AAAAAAAACA8/oMjkweG7P7o/s320/splashes-0102.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5725979116780682338" border="0" /></a><br />It was all about freezing motion by using high shutter speeds. You need to balance your ISO, shutter speed and aperture. I found to get the best results I needed to under-expose the photos by about a stop and a half.<br /><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3VQSXqR2lNI/T3bFHCt3UJI/AAAAAAAACBI/aTsbb8vZrHo/s1600/splashes-0693.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3VQSXqR2lNI/T3bFHCt3UJI/AAAAAAAACBI/aTsbb8vZrHo/s320/splashes-0693.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5725980701027160210" border="0" /></a><br />A few brave members of the class were willing to have buckets of water, cordial and milk (!!) thrown at them. Pretty pictures and sticky, smelly clothes ensued. A big thanks to Miss R and Miss D who happily took whatever we threw at them.<br /><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2j-Qt3WZ29U/T3bGHMWIjnI/AAAAAAAACBs/Kbk4YFlv3Ws/s1600/splashes-0030.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 212px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2j-Qt3WZ29U/T3bGHMWIjnI/AAAAAAAACBs/Kbk4YFlv3Ws/s320/splashes-0030.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5725981803123609202" border="0" /></a><br />As you can see from the pictures there's a split second where the water stays in the balloon shape after it has been popped. It's kind of amazing to see it captured it a photo. It all happens so fast that the human eye just doesn't see it.<br /><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dlAk4qvyzHQ/T3bGGu_VE0I/AAAAAAAACBg/UMplTweHopk/s1600/splashes-0702.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dlAk4qvyzHQ/T3bGGu_VE0I/AAAAAAAACBg/UMplTweHopk/s320/splashes-0702.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5725981795243332418" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ss-jusWgncs/T3bFHvtGTmI/AAAAAAAACBU/eBpgBshtBkE/s1600/splashes-0761.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 212px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ss-jusWgncs/T3bFHvtGTmI/AAAAAAAACBU/eBpgBshtBkE/s320/splashes-0761.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5725980713103543906" border="0" /></a><br />So what can I say? It's all in a days work. I'm so keen to capture a few more bursting water balloons! Any one want to be my assistant? There are so many more pictures to share but for the meantime I hope your weekend is going wonderfully!<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s1142.photobucket.com/albums/n618/Tafleena/?action=view&current=different.png" target="_blank"><img style="width: 304px; height: 83px;" src="http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/n618/Tafleena/different.png" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Just me...Taflinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12353359529436128841noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1806104728578891176.post-76147031020569978462012-03-25T18:38:00.007+10:002012-03-25T19:33:13.106+10:00A Little Bit of Light Painting...Recently I have been experimenting with light painting a little more. If I do say so myself some of the photos turned out great. I do so love playing with long exposure photography! It's so much fun to paint with a touch and run around to the back of the camera to see what I've managed to get.<br /><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jlI5zZjJAuQ/T27fntpTVJI/AAAAAAAACAk/Lq2l8KN-WpM/s1600/lightpainting-0317.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jlI5zZjJAuQ/T27fntpTVJI/AAAAAAAACAk/Lq2l8KN-WpM/s320/lightpainting-0317.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723758049795200146" border="0" /></a><br />I am developing a little collection of vintage cameras (must admit I've got my eye on a few more!). The Nikkormat in the above photo is one of my dad's old cameras. I would dearly love to get it in proper working order again but unfortunately that is a little out of my budget at the moment.<br /><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dr-Q4FAO1b8/T27dbAi9eSI/AAAAAAAACAA/t2kr6RtZUOI/s1600/lightpainting-0305.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dr-Q4FAO1b8/T27dbAi9eSI/AAAAAAAACAA/t2kr6RtZUOI/s320/lightpainting-0305.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723755632507320610" border="0" /></a><br />I picked up the above camera on eBay for only $10! Unfortunately it doesn't work either but I still think its a total bargain if you ask me. I have a few interesting photoshoots planned with this pretty little camera.<br /><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RsnOtQoVpac/T27eM2beFBI/AAAAAAAACAM/rWUG2dYmpvI/s1600/lightpainting-0294.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RsnOtQoVpac/T27eM2beFBI/AAAAAAAACAM/rWUG2dYmpvI/s320/lightpainting-0294.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723756488785007634" border="0" /></a><br />Of course I couldn't pass up the opportunity to photograph my cute little d5000. And, boy, let me tell you it does seem little compared to my d7000. It's funny to think that this was my first ever dslr and that I've had it for almost 3 years. I don't think I could ever part with it... There's a little too much sentimental value attached to it!<br /><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kmKEkk9vkM8/T27e9LyQ4dI/AAAAAAAACAY/ykNEYBfA8KE/s1600/lightpainting-0307.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kmKEkk9vkM8/T27e9LyQ4dI/AAAAAAAACAY/ykNEYBfA8KE/s320/lightpainting-0307.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723757319151477202" border="0" /></a><br />Of course what light painting without a bit of good old-fashioned steel wool spinning? I decided to use my external flash (popped by a helpful friend) to make it into a self-portrait!<br /><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-41ICQNoL-II/T27giHrIrtI/AAAAAAAACAw/gGLPu6WlGSs/s1600/tryagaim-0340.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-41ICQNoL-II/T27giHrIrtI/AAAAAAAACAw/gGLPu6WlGSs/s320/tryagaim-0340.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723759053214625490" border="0" /></a><br />I decided to make a little video of my latest steel wool spinning adventure. One thing (well actually many things) became obvious - I <span style="font-style: italic;">need</span> to get WAY better at editing if I'm planning to make any more videos!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s1142.photobucket.com/albums/n618/Tafleena/?action=view&current=different.png" target="_blank"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzETQfnFT-Gnik-qsSyTh4EPPgxG3vnpFOl27Ry-R_DWKyZ0PlY3Gfmqr83NLFClGsYg4BlOCIzLS4shg7X' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></a><br /></div><br />It's kind of fun to watch the video of what I look like spinning the steel wool because when I'm spinning it is of course from a completely different perspective. I think I might try my hand at making a few more videos (if I can think of interesting subjects!) If you have the equipment why not give it a try? I'll always enjoy photography the most though.<br /><br />I hope you had a fantastic week!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s1142.photobucket.com/albums/n618/Tafleena/?action=view&current=different.png" target="_blank"><img style="width: 308px; height: 84px;" src="http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/n618/Tafleena/different.png" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Just me...Taflinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12353359529436128841noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1806104728578891176.post-37590348183260729542012-03-25T15:02:00.005+10:002012-03-25T15:50:07.931+10:00Lately...Extremely long time no blog! My bad. Thanks for sticking around. Obviously downloading an app to make blogging easier didn't exactly work out as planned. Apparently I'm still trying to figure out and adjust to my new schedule. Here's hoping the adjustment period is almost over!<br /><br />I thought I'd share a few photographs I've taken recently for one of my assignments for the course.<br /><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5NqBzY1N4Kg/T26qvqHzIkI/AAAAAAAAB_c/TWq7WH_wO4M/s1600/blogportraits--3.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5NqBzY1N4Kg/T26qvqHzIkI/AAAAAAAAB_c/TWq7WH_wO4M/s320/blogportraits--3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723699912172053058" border="0" /></a><br />First I have to say a huge thank you to a few of my friends who let me photograph them for a few hours. You guys were fantastic models! It's been kind of fun practising and perfecting my portrait photography skills. I can see some definite improvement in my ability to get the photo I'm after.<br /> <br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IeghrZUoZyM/T26rPs2SkTI/AAAAAAAAB_o/rR4YDX7IFGo/s1600/blogportraits-.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 212px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IeghrZUoZyM/T26rPs2SkTI/AAAAAAAAB_o/rR4YDX7IFGo/s320/blogportraits-.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723700462659735858" border="0" /></a><br />It's incredibly gratifying to be able to have an idea - a concept - in mind and be able to execute it.<br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WiIsz189lEc/T26sDSdBC4I/AAAAAAAAB_0/ZvI1mfzDwiw/s1600/blogportraits--2.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WiIsz189lEc/T26sDSdBC4I/AAAAAAAAB_0/ZvI1mfzDwiw/s320/blogportraits--2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723701348927605634" border="0" /></a><br />I have lots more photographs that I'm planning to share. But instead of photo-bombing you all with one extremely long post chock full of photos I think I'll spread them out over a few posts. Maybe that will encourage me to blog more. What do you think? I'd love to hear from you - what you think of the photos, ideas about what to photograph next or even just to stop by and say hello. In the meantime I hope you've had a wonderful weekend!<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s1142.photobucket.com/albums/n618/Tafleena/?action=view&current=different.png" target="_blank"><img style="width: 304px; height: 83px;" src="http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/n618/Tafleena/different.png" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Just me...Taflinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12353359529436128841noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1806104728578891176.post-85601525089333453812012-02-19T13:08:00.001+10:002012-02-19T13:08:02.714+10:00My New(ish) Tablet<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'>As I mentioned in my last post I recently purchased a new tablet... And boy, oh boy, I l-o-v-e it! Even if for no other reason than it means that I can watch TV shows and movies on the train. But it does so much more than that! I'm planning to write a proper review of the wonderful piece of technology soon. As well as sharing a few of my favourite apps. But just at the moment I'm trying to find a decent app for uploading to my blog... The one that I used for last night's post wouldn't let me upload photos no matter what I tried. Not exactly the best tool for a photography related blog! If any one of there posts from a tablet I'd love to hear some suggestions for an app that will suit my needs.<br/>
<br/>
There's a photo I took with my phone ( as an aside I'm loving exploring and experimenting with 'phone photography'. It will never take the place of my beloved DSLR(s) but it's defiantly fun to play around with) of my pretty tablet. If you'd like to take a look at some of my other forays into phone photography you can follow me on Twitter ( link on the side bar) or you can go here (thoey.lightbox.com) to look at my Lightbox. If you own a Android I can highly recommend the Lightbox app as a wonderful image sharing and uploading tool.<br/>

(Especially when compared to last year). And in truth I honestly do miss it. There's just not enough hours in the day at the moment it seems.<div><p>In case I didn't tell you before I started a two year, full time course in Photography this year and I'm still trying to adjust to the l-o-n-g hours. Curious as I am more surrounded by photography my little photography blog here suffers.</p><p>But I will attempt to blog a bit more often than once a month! I have had heaps of good ideas rolling around in my brain but whenever I actually have the time to blog my brain seems to momentarily turn to mush. Here's hoping that with the Blogger app on my tablet I can manage to get my ideas written down without any delay.</p><p>Now to a few photos I'd love to share with you. Last week for college I had to take some cityscape photos and while I was waiting for the sting to go out of the heat of the day I happened upon the magnificent sculpture that I knew I just had to photograph. So I clicked on my ultra wide lens, lay on the ground and crawled into the middle of the structure... The pictures were well worth the curious stares by by-standers.</p><p><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XiGmoUO5LOo/Tz-P6cl-GeI/AAAAAAAAB-o/CIJ_9ZGGxTM/s1600/blogfinally-1-2.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XiGmoUO5LOo/Tz-P6cl-GeI/AAAAAAAAB-o/CIJ_9ZGGxTM/s320/blogfinally-1-2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710441086799714786" border="0" /></a></p><p>I can't decide if I prefer this photo in colour or in black and white. What do you think? I'd love to hear your opinion!</p><p><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zLLfZN44qJ4/Tz-Qxqv78bI/AAAAAAAAB-0/Zc3wlLn3Gcw/s1600/blogfinally-2.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zLLfZN44qJ4/Tz-Qxqv78bI/AAAAAAAAB-0/Zc3wlLn3Gcw/s320/blogfinally-2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710442035492417970" border="0" /></a></p><p>I just couldn't resist sharing just one of my cityscape photos. There's something beautiful about the Storey Bridge.</p><p><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k8FHVyczQuk/Tz-RlD5yQyI/AAAAAAAAB_A/1vJ37KLuYzw/s1600/blogfinally-1.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k8FHVyczQuk/Tz-RlD5yQyI/AAAAAAAAB_A/1vJ37KLuYzw/s320/blogfinally-1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710442918417941282" border="0" /></a></p><p>Thanks so much for reading... And for putting up with my extended absences! Please bare with me while I figure out (read: get used to) my new schedule. Come back soon!</p></div>Just me...Taflinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12353359529436128841noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1806104728578891176.post-15378247570332185402012-01-23T13:15:00.007+10:002012-01-23T14:10:07.387+10:00Oh Poor Little Blog...Oh my poor, neglected little blog. I didn't plan to be away for so long. There just wasn't that much to talk about... There wasn't even that many photos to share. I've just been taking it easy for a few weeks because life is about to become a lot busier. But I did go on a little photographic adventure a couple of weeks ago. A friend and I went to see a local shipwreck. It made for some pretty photos!<br /><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CyBT29luHSs/Txzdhhr40CI/AAAAAAAAB9s/XBwLClVI9E4/s1600/Boat-6201.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 265px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CyBT29luHSs/Txzdhhr40CI/AAAAAAAAB9s/XBwLClVI9E4/s400/Boat-6201.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5700674796392075298" border="0" /></a><br />Okay so I could use some fantastic blogger knowledge... I'm trying to make all my photos the same width no matter if it's in portrait or landscape. But nothing I'm doing seems to be working. I tried resizing them in photoshop but when I uploaded the resized images to Blogger the photos are not all the same width... And when I resized a portrait image to the correct width it gets pixelated. Help!! What am I doing wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!<br /><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fag-SCZO76I/TxzSOhYXYRI/AAAAAAAAB8w/joCYBMQu7YQ/s1600/Boat-6171resized2000w.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 265px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fag-SCZO76I/TxzSOhYXYRI/AAAAAAAAB8w/joCYBMQu7YQ/s400/Boat-6171resized2000w.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5700662375264772370" border="0" /></a><br />On a different note it is so much fun editing photos in Lightroom! It's interesting to see the different kind of looks you can get from similar images.<br /><br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LAPK5r_LKi8/TxzSPSMVoDI/AAAAAAAAB9I/3Me71w9o0Ws/s1600/Boat-6211resized2000w.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 265px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LAPK5r_LKi8/TxzSPSMVoDI/AAAAAAAAB9I/3Me71w9o0Ws/s400/Boat-6211resized2000w.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5700662388367663154" border="0" /></a><br />I hope your 2012 is off to an amazing start!<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s1142.photobucket.com/albums/n618/Tafleena/?action=view&current=different.png" target="_blank"><img style="width: 301px; height: 82px;" src="http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/n618/Tafleena/different.png" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Just me...Taflinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12353359529436128841noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1806104728578891176.post-484338120535102432011-12-31T18:15:00.004+10:002011-12-31T18:15:00.258+10:00Everything That WasHere we are. The end of 2011. Only a few more hours left. It's been quite a year really. Full of highs and lows. Exciting steps into the future and dreams starting to form. I feel this year has been a big and exciting year for a myriad of reasons. This seems like the perfect time to share a couple of photos I took a few weeks back. Nothing like a bit of sparkle to say goodbye to 2011!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WWWZFjjKtAg/Tv5nnXeqBXI/AAAAAAAAB8U/wkLpHwgiFzg/s1600/HappyNYSTRAIGHT-4741.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 265px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WWWZFjjKtAg/Tv5nnXeqBXI/AAAAAAAAB8U/wkLpHwgiFzg/s400/HappyNYSTRAIGHT-4741.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5692100905058043250" border="0" /></a><br />So I say happy new year to you.
