I treasure moments of quiet reflection. Moments when I can sit and think about things past, the present and the direction of the future. Day two hundred and eighty-four was one of those days for me. A day when I didn't answer the phone and barely touched my computer. It was beautiful and just what I needed.
It was such a gorgeous day! I looked up and saw a beautiful blue sky peaking through clouds that looked like cotton candy. It reminded me of when I was a kid and used to watch the clouds and try to guess what they looked like. Simplicity itself!

Project 365 - Day Two Hundred And Eighty-Three
Day two hundred and eighty-three was completely amazing! I had the opportunity to witness (and photograph) the amazing fireworks display of Riverfire. What is Riverfire you ask? Click here to find out. A friend and I drove into the city in search of a good place to set up and photograph the pyrotechnics.
We were fairly lucky and managed to grab an almost unhindered view of the beautiful Storey Bridge. We set up our tripods and waited for the show to begin. Now I had seen Riverfire on the TV in years gone by but this was the first time I got to see it first hand. Watching it on TV is great but it's not quite the same as watching it all first hand.
There were so many photographers set up in the park we were in. Over twenty I'd say. Some of them must have been there for hours to make sure they had the exact spot they wanted. If I go next year I think I want to show up a little earlier to see if I could get a spot without a fence in the foreground. Despite the fence I think the photos turned out pretty great!
I spent the whole morning researching the best way to take photos of fireworks. I think the research paid off. These are most defiantly my best photos of fireworks so far. A bit more practice and I think I'll have the technique down pat.
I love that you can see the beautifully lit city as well as the spectacular fireworks in these photos. It's the best of both worlds! No matter how old I get I think I'll always find fireworks stunning and beautiful.
What about you? Are you a fan of fireworks?

Project 365 - Day Two Hundred And Eighty-Two
After my two big days I scheduled day two hundred and eighty-two to be a total veg day. I needed time to recover after my exciting, action-packed day! It was just what the doctor ordered. I headed into my craft room to try and get inspired for the photo of the day. A small collection of my paintbrushes caught my eye.
I love to paint! It's very relaxing. I haven't painted in a while and I'm itching to get my hands on a blank canvas. But that will have to wait for a little while.
So what are you up to this weekend? Whatever you're doing I hope you have a great one!

Project 365 - Day Two Hundred And Eighty-One
Happy September!! I love September (okay, okay it doesn't hurt that my birthday is in September). Day Two Hundred and Eighty-One was the most mega-HUGE day! I woke up before 5am and didn't get to bed til 1am the next morning - I was assisting with two photoshoots. It was exciting, fun, such a learning experience and so very tiring. There was a couple of hours in between the photoshoots when I quickly dashed out to snap a few photos.
Who knew a weed could look so beautiful? Every time I pull out my camera or work as a photographer's assistant I become increasingly positive that this is what I want to do with my life. I'm so excited to follow this road and see where it leads!

Project 365 - Day Two Hundred And Eighty
I have had two mega-huge days and one day of recovery. Luckily despite the mega-hugeness of my days I still remembered to snap a picture every day. Day two hundred and eighty was the first of my huge days and just before I crawled into bed to rest my weary body my light bulb caught my eye.
I kind of like the bright white light juxtaposed against the pure black background. Maybe it's not the best photo or anything but with the time I had available it was the best I could do. I really want to figure out how to make a picture look like it's just a light bulb floating in mid-air... Now that would be a cool photo!

Project 365 - Day Two Hundred And Seventy-Nine
Something weird has been happening to me lately. I have always been a complete night owl. The type of person who very rarely goes to bed before 2am. You know that type of person. Well for the past few days I've been in bed by 8pm and up by 3am!! I have no idea what's happened. One things for sure I'm not a big fan of this change in my sleeping pattern. I want my old patterns back!! The one nice thing about this new sleep schedule is that I get to see some wonderful morning scenes.
I took this photo as I was walking out of the shopping center (I got there before lots of the shops were open - never done that before!). This photo doesn't really do justice to what I saw. It reminded me of some of the famous watercolor paintings I have seen. There were so many beautiful layers of clouds and shading. It was simply stunning! I need to figure out the best way to capture a scene like this. Looks like more internet reading for me. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
