After the previous day's insomnia I needed a relaxing day at home. So I snapped on my macro lens and headed out into my garden to see what tiny treasures I could find. I stumbled upon a spider sitting on my citrus tree.
This seriously small spider moved incredibly quickly. This was the only half decent shot in around 10 frames. I would get the focus just right but by then it would have scurried down the branch. Ah the joys of insect macro photography!

Project 365 - Day Three Hundred And Forty
I spent most of the night tossing and turning unable to sleep. Hello insomnia my old friend. So I decided to use this attack of sleeplessness to go and capture the glory of a beautiful sunrise. I headed out to Nudgee Beach armed with my camera, tripod and my beautiful ultra wide angle lens. Talk about the perfect way to start the day.
I love the textured lines of the beach. It gives a bit more depth to the photo I think. What do you think?
As I was crouched down intent on getting the 'perfect' photograph the tide started rolling in slowly swallowing the textured beach. While I mourned the loss of the textured foreground I reveled in the mirror effect of the incoming ocean.

I bumped up the shutter speed quite a bit because I wanted to enhance the pink hues of the clouds. It turned out perfectly. The picturesque landscape and the pure beauty of the moment was well worth the sever lack of sleep.

Project 365 - Day Three Hundred And Thirty-Nine
The beautiful day lilies I purchased were on their last legs - petals and pollen were falling everywhere. But I managed to squeeze in one more tiny photoshoot before I had to throw them in the bin. I think it turned out pretty well.
I really wanted to create a little depth and dimension in this photo so I decided to focus on the pollen bud (?) in the back rather than the ones at the front. I am constantly amazed at the level of detail I can capture with my macro lens. There is an astounding level of detail that the naked eye simply misses.

Project 365 - Day Three Hundred And Thirty-Eight
On day three hundred and thirty eight I decided that after dealing with numerous problems with my internet connection it was time to get my bake on. So I ducked down to the shops and brought all the ingredients I needed to make some scrumptious pancetta, cheese and corn scones. They were divine!
In my opinion there's no better way to serve these tasty little delights than straight out of the oven with a bit of butter on top. Only problem was the butter was melting too fast for me to get a decent picture. What started off as a nice curl of butter quickly melted into a buttery lake sitting on the scone. That's why the professional food photographers sometimes substitute certain things I guess.

Project 365 - Day Three Hundred And Thirty-Seven
So as I said in my last post I lost the internet again for a while. Seems I had been sent a faulty modem and I had to send it back to where I purchased it from. I was going to have to wait up to three weeks without a connection while they investigated to see if there was a problem. Three weeks without the internet??!!?? Oh the humanity! But thanks to my wonderful mum I went down to the local electronics store and brought another new modem and router (2 in a week!). I set it up and it's been working perfectly ever since! So here's to more regular postings and fewer internet dropouts!!
But before all I was still busily taking photos while I didn't have an internet connection. Here's the photo for day three hundred and thirty-seven.
Now this photo has a little story behind it. While I was out taking this photo (in single point auto focus mode) I couldn't get the focus point to move. And because I didn't have the internet I was unable to look up and figure out how to fix the problem. Needless to say I was freaking out a fair bit! But I finally figured it out and it's back in top working order. I couldn't help but think of the old adage 'when it rains it pours'. But life is always brighter and more fresh after a storm.
