Project 365 - Day Three Hundred And Thirteen

There was a simply amazing sky scene when the sun was setting on day three hundred and thirteen. Unfortunately this photo doesn't capture its true magnificence. But I adore the rays of sunlight breaking through the thick, stormy cloud cover just before it slips below the horizon.

A simple picture to be sure. A picture where I cared little about exposure etc. I just simply needed to capture the scene exactly as I saw it. The rays of sun were absolutely stunning! The beauty of that moment simply breath-taking.

Project 365 - Day Three Hundred And Twelve

I seem to have started a tradition whenever I attend weddings - I tend to keep the order of service and any other bits and pieces to try and round out my picture set if you will. It's a nice way to make sure I capture as many of the details of the day as possible.

If nothing else at least it reminds me of the names (as if I could forget!) and the general color scheme of the day. In any event I love the focus on the order of service with pretty petals scattered around it. What do you think of the photo?

Project 365 - Day Three Hundred And Eleven

As you can see (if you aren't viewing this in Google Reader) I've done a little bit of a design update. I'm not sure if I'm totally happy with it but I have had my previous blog design for so long that I just needed a change. What do you think of the new blog design? I'd love to hear your opinion!

But back to the business at hand. On day three hundred and eleven I was privileged to attend the wedding of my sister-in-law's little sister! I actually went to school with the groom. It was so lovely to see two people who make a loving commitment to one another. Plus it gave me a chance to snap some pictures and think of what I'd do if I was photographing the wedding professionally.

What can I say? I am forever drawn to the details! Glass and candlelight is so magical. I'd love to have table settings like this at home but with just one person it seems kind of pointless. The wedding provided me with the perfect opportunity to practice my portraiture skills. I managed to capture some really beautiful images that are going into my portfolio for sure! I may share a few of them a little later but for now enjoy the beauty of the soft candlelight.

Project 365 - Day Three Hundred And Ten

Woohoo!! My internet is up and running again. I have realized I'm on the internet a lot!! You don't realize how much you use something until it isn't working properly. But that's kind of besides the point. On day three hundred and ten I brought some flowers to give to a lovely lady... Of course I couldn't really pass up the chance to snap a few photos before I handed them over.

I wanted to see exactly how close up I could get with my macro lens. This flower was only a few centimeters big. I love that you can see the 'veins' in the petal. There is such amazing detail and intricacy. It's kind of breath-taking don't you think?

Silly Little...

I was planning to do a huge blog update and bring project 365 completely up-to-date. But instead my internet decided to crash. So I've had to resort to blogging from my phone! Just to let you know that I'm planning to do a big update session just as soon as I'm up and running again.
In the grand scheme of things a crashed internet connection isn't the worst thing in the world... In the meantime I might just enjoy the 'silence' a downed internet connection can bring.
I hope you are having an amazing week!

Project 365 - Day Three Hundred And Nine

Day three hundred and nine was taken after a sleepless night (does that mean it's still day three hundred and eight?). I'm talking not a single wink of sleep. For some reason, goodness knows why, I decided this would be the perfect time to take a self-portrait. Honestly I'm surprised my eyes don't look all blood-shot and wild.

All in all I'm pretty happy with how the image turned out. I'm having lots of fun playing around with off camera flash to give a little bit of fill light without being as harsh as direct flash. When a flash or external lighting is used effectively it can really balance and enhance an image. If nothing else this gave me a chance to dress up and trail run what I'm planning to wear to a wedding this Saturday (today!!). Pretty picture and prior planning?? Double win!
