Project 365 - Day Two Hundred And Fifty-Five

Before I got my beloved Kindle I used to buy books buy the bucket load (I still do... only they're electronic now). One of my favorite type of books to buy were the orange Penguin Classics - completely inexpensive and the BEST collection of Literature.

Now I'm surrounded by all these beautiful books that have enriched my life in ways I cannot even begin to comprehend. They have pride of place in my bookshelf and serve as markers of where I've been and point to where I'm going.

Project 365 - Day Two Hundred And Fifty-Four

I woke up on day two hundred and fifty-four I was feeling a bit under the weather. So much so that I barely left my bed the whole day. But in order to get a photo (that didn't consist of a picture of my room) I stepped outside my backdoor and gravitated to the closest point of interest.

Because I wasn't feeling the best I simply snapped away, hoped for the best. And promptly crawled back into bed. All in all I think it turned out okay. Plus it put a smile on my face to enjoy the simply beauty of a pretty flower - despite feeling yucky. I'm sure I'll be in tip top shape in no time. Luckily I have a pretty easy weekend planned. Project 365 - Day Two Hundred And Fifty-Three

During a bit of down time I had this morning I visited a darling little French patisserie and treated myself to a cappuccino and some lovely little macaroons. Simply delightful. I choose to think of it as research for when I finally try to bake my own. That makes it okay, right?

I love the bright colors of these beautiful bites! The french patisserie was artfully decorated with comfortable chair and the obligatory french theme throughout. I can't honestly say it was exactly like being in Paris but it was still pretty awesome.


There was so many other artfully decorated sweet and savory treats. I think I'll have to make it a regular haunt while I work my way through the menu. As it was I sat back with a lovely cup of coffee, my selection of sweet treats and a well written book to keep me company.


Kindle, coffee and macaroons!! Let me tell you it was the perfect way to simply shut down and enjoy some 'me' time. Blissful relaxation. Do you have a cafe you like to visit to escape and unwind?

Project 365 - Day Two Hundred And Fifty-Two

After a fairly unremarkable day I (belatedly) realized I hadn't taken my photo of the day yet. I quickly cast my eye around my room desperately searching for something to capture. The shiny tube of cherry red lipstick (a current favorite of mine) caught my eye. It seemed like a good a time as any to try a bit of product photography.

I love how shiny and luscious the red lipstick is. If I were more skilled at post-processing (I'm slowly learning) I think I could make this photo look so much better. I probably should have widened the DOF slightly. But, again, this project's main aim is about learning and refining my skills. I can see a defiant improvement in my skills from when I started this project to now. Do you think so too?

Project 365 - Day Two Hundred And Fifty-One

The second of August was an absolutely wonderful day. First it started with a wonderful catch-up with one of my very dear friends. This lady is simply amazing and every time I see her it simply refreshes my soul. One of the best ways to spend a few hours in my opinion (time always seems to fly when we hang out). Then I headed to South Brisbane to have dinner with my brother and SIL.

We had dinner at a place I had never been before and let me tell you the food was a-m-a-z-i-n-g!! The meat was cooked so well and there was so much variety. I defiantly plan to re-visit the place. In the entrance the restaurant had this interesting chandelier/random lighting feature. It seemed like the perfect subject for day two hundred and fifty-one.

The lighting feature periodically changed color and if I had been more on the money with my focusing on some of my other shots I think it could have made an interesting pop-art type piece. I would have liked to isolate the small balls a bit more to make the picture more pronounced but this is the best I could get at the time. I desperately want to buy a similar lighting feature in my room. Do you know where I could get one?
